Tata Tech will work on modernizing Air India’s operations by digitizing its line and outfit data and introducing digital results for aircraft conservation, according to a top superintendent, as the Tata Group moves to revive the country’s oldest airline. The company also wants to make the aerospace business its second biggest profit earner after motorcars.
It (Air India) isn’t just a business (for the Tatas). There’s a lot of emotion involved,” Aloke Palsikar, administrative vice chairman and head of growth diligence and Nordics, told ET. “The entire strength of the Tata Group will be abused in putting Air India back on its line. We’re no different.” The aeronautics- to- machine empire had won the shot for the ailing quondam public carrier last time. It took over its operation from the government on January 27, 2022.
“The whole integration has started. We’re in discussion with them on a lot of our disciplines,” he said. “We’re talking to them about data operation and cabin engineering, we’re talking to them on a lot of digitalization. In the coming months, we should see some progress.” Palsikar said the work would include digitizing the line and outfit data of Air India and also bringing digital results to aircraft conservation, form and the overhaul unit that the Tatas acquired along with the airline.
People near to the development have said that Air India plans to order further than 300 aero planes, indeed as it sells old aircraft. It lately invited flings for its three long- range, wide- bodied Boeing 777 aero planes. Tata Technologies is 74% possessed by Tata Motors. It gets 75% of its profit from the automotive member. Tata Technologies has set up an office in Airbus’ headquarters in Toulouse, France. It’ll set up more in the aero plane maker’s other bases similar as Hamburg, Germany, Palsikar said.
